exactly what i need
He's my sunshine in the rain
My Tylenol when I'm in pain yeah
Let me tell you what he means to me
Like a tall glass of lemonade
When it’s burning hot on summer days
He’s exactly what I need
He’s soothing like the ocean rushing on the sand
He takes care of me
And he helps me be a better woman
He’s so beautiful, sometimes I close my eyes
He’s exactly what I need
He’s my smile when I’m feeling blue
My good night sleep when the day is through
Let me tell you what he means to me
Kinda like the feeling after your first kiss
Except that Everyday he makes me feel like this
He's exactly what I need
He’s soothing like the ocean rushing on the sand
He takes care of me
And he helps me be a better woman
He’s so beautiful, sometimes I close my eyes
He’s exactly what I need
Analysis
My song is a love song, and the lyrics that I wrote relate to show how much a girl loves her boyfriend and the feelings that she has for him. The title of my song is Exactly What I need. I hoped to portray to the readers the love that the girl has for her boyfriend. I wanted the whole song to have a happy feel opposed to a song that was depressing, or about feeling sad about love. It is an acoustic song because acoustic songs make me feel as though the song has a lighter happier tune to it. In the first verse, I wrote about him being the sunshine in the rain and my Tylenol when in pain to show the contrast of how he makes things better. The next lines show that he is the "good" when times get bad. I displayed this as being an ice-cold glass of lemonade on a hot summer day.
The next verse I made into my chorus. The whole verse related to how he makes feel; soothing, like the ocean rushing on the sand. I wrote this line hoping to paint the picture in readers minds of sitting on a beach when the sun is setting listening to the sound of the ocean. The feeling of sitting on the beach, I hoped would help readers see how soothing he makes me feel.
The first line in the next verse is "He's my smile when I'm feeling blue." I wrote this line to again, show the contrast between the bad and the good. Him making things better when things are bad. The next line in this verse is "My good night sleep when the day is through." When you're really tired after a long day, a good night's rest makes you feel a lot better. Just like the girl's boyfriend makes her feel better just being with him. The next two lines are " Kinda like the feeling after your first kiss, except that everyday he makes me feel like this." Your first kiss is a special feeling and being with her boyfriend, he always makes her feels special.
In the next verse and final verse, I repeated the chorus and wanted to portray to readers the same things I hoped to portray in the first chorus lines. I hoped my song would have reached and touched readers about the feeling of love. I used analogies to compare the girls feelings to every day things such as being the sunshine in the rain.
Reflection
I enjoyed working on my song. It was fun and I enjoyed it better than having to write a regular paper. It was nice to see other people's songs and their creativty. I enjoyed working on this project and I hope others enjoyed my song too.
